Hey guys! Sorry i haven’t been around to update in a hot minute, I’ve been busy and i tend to get lazy with things easily. I was actually about to start a blog/website devoted to the sidekick when i thought, hey, why the fuck am i doing this when I had that blog over at wordpress!? And to be honest, it was totally stupid of me to abandon this blog. From my first post to the last (before this one) it had grown so much. Every week had more hits than the last, and by the fourth week (when i abandoned) it had almost a thousand hits.  I think itd be easy to bring this page back up on top. So expect me to start blogging again .

T-Mobile’s 3G is finally here, only a few years too late to say the least.  On October 21 it will be rolling out to 27 of the biggest markets, heres a list after the break

In other news, the sidekick has released in what seems like a soft release compared to former releases.  I think people are still so hyped up about the LX, that they’re not ready to get hyped up all over. Though this is only supposed to be an upgrade to the iD, it’s pretty much on par with the LX.  Possible replacement? What do you think.  If not, its gonna be nice to see all these nice sidekicks available at once.  It’s possible its kicking off the LX, when you mention the recent price drop putting it on par with the slide.

Wow, today I visited the local T-Mobile store, needing a new charger for my LX.  While they didn’t have any information for me regarding the OTA, the sales rep was crazy over it and i quote, “Oh my god oh my god it’s so pretty, you have to get it!”  Well, I definantly must say its cute, looks like a mix of the LX and iD. It felt so light in my hands, and I’m glad to hear it’s made by Sharp again.  The lady almost gave me a heart attack when she said “Samsung — I mean Sharp!” Needless to say it said Sharp on its back.  It felt so sleek, and is completely black, minus your gel casing (hard casing, btw).

They told me that they have them in stock already, but that I wouldn’t be able to buy one until the 30th (!!).  But here’s what’s good — they let me take pictures of it! There’s two photos, one open and one closed.  Click read full to see the second.

As of NOW, multitudes of pictures and stats of the fifth generation sidekick have been leaked all over the internet, and release is supposed to be soon, very soon. The only source yet to report on release states “later this month”(!!) though this seems unlikely, with the Tony Hawk LE sidekick on the edge of release and already available to current T-Mobile customers.  But according to sources, the Tony Hawk sidekick will be available to new customers July 16 and the (name not yet completely known) sidekick to be released on the 28 (tentative release date)

Sounds too good to be true. That’s cos it probably is.

• Media player (which I along with most all LX users are still waiting for)

• size -120 x 57.5 x 18 mm (that’s just 1mm thicker than the slide!)

oh, and how could i have forgotten, the removable skins like the iD (though, these are supposed to be way better judging by the pictures)

THE NAME

here is the big controversy – what is the name of the new sidekick?! Everyone has been saying forever (literally) that its gonna be the Sidekick Gekko, though (extremely) recently, that has changed to Gecco, following the spelling in BestBuy’s computer system.  And now as of last thursday, it’s the Sidekick 2008!  Whats wrong with T-Mobile, they cant find a name pattern they liked. It started with the sidekick 2 (actually sidekick II), sidekick 3, then they went over to the 2 letter system with iD & LX. Now is it gonna be by year?  I was diggin the two letter system, but if 2008 means its gonna be released this year, then I’m totally for it.

Well, when Verizon’s INpulse service first came out, it was great. I even considered it. A dollar a day got you unlimited talk & text to other Verizon customers, plus unlimited nights to anyone else, and just 10c per minute to the others. Well, first they dropped the texting, and then as of Last Thursday, they just went completely down the shitter.

Well, I have some good news for y’all (god i cant believe i just typed that, i hate that word with a passion). Verizon is offering a new option for its prepaid customers.

Verizon has announced that if you pay an extra $10 a month added on to your prepaid balance, you can recieve unlimited messaging to other Verizon customers, plus 250 to other non-V.  Sounds like a great option for all those 13 year old teenage girls out there that are so desperate for friends that they need to have Verzion ‘cuz nobody would talk to them if that means they’d have to pay that have parents that aren’t about to flip the bill for their own cell phone just yet. And its not just texting, its any kinda messaging people.

It’s all bull. I still hate Verizon. The fact that people would pay $10 for unlimited text only on the V network is fucktarded.  The fact that Verizon would even go so low as to offer it is without words.  Ay, when will America step up to par with the rest of the mobile world? tsk tsk tsk *shakes head in dissapointment*

Well, basically.  UT Starcom is selling off its mobile counterpart to a group of private investors. Probably the most important peice of information is that UT Starcom phones will still be continue to be made, though under a different name and obviously ownership. So dont worry if your a cricket or virgin mobile fanboy – you still got plenty more to come!

There are so many stupid people out there, no offense if you’re one of them.  Lets just clarify some facts -

1. Yes, everyone who owns a sidekick LX will recieve the update.  Its already started rolling out, and it is sent to all phones in random order, so there’s no way to tell exactly when you’re going to receive it.
2. There is currently no information on when or if sidekick slide users will receive any type of OTA.  My guess is that it’s not possible for video or anything else with the hardware, but the other OS updates should still be capable, though as of now I have found no information on if that’s ever even gonna happen.

My take- I have an LX and It has been 10 days now (seems more like 10 months) since the OTA has been rolled out en masse, and I still haven’t received.  But don’t worry, the update has been officially guaranteed.

As soon as i receive it, there will be a review here. Lol.

Sorry I havent updated in a hot minute guys, but my computer’s been broken.  Right now im posting from my sister’s.  For starters, I’m removing the site mirror on blogger.  It was done as an alternative, to see which would become more popular, and in return abandon the least popular one.  Well, for starters nobody is viewing the blogger one, and its too much effort to run two blogs.  Alot of people were telling me that blogger is bettere than wordpress too, so part of it was for me to find out on my own which platform was the best, but I must say I love wordpress more hands down.

Anyone see the new Samsung Instinct commercial on TV? I’m totally digging it. Spontaneous dance party! woot. I’m totally gonna download this on limewire and add it to my iTunes. hehe
